Recently, I am going through a massive turn around on my work where it’s too stressed to a point, if someone pushes me slightly I would literally start crying. Believe me, crying is not the best strength when it comes to working in corporate.
What I have learnt from working in big companies for more than 10 years now is that, the more I climb up corporate ladder, the bigger the stress becomes. Kind of make sense, right? Bigger the role comes the bigger the responsibility. However it’s not only the responsibilities that put you through stress. It’s the people, politics and bull shit you have to deal with just because.
And currently I am at the stage where I constantly think about work NON-STOP even when I’m off work. I used to think,
“why would anyone not be able to tune off work? You just stop reading email off work and stop thinking about work, because that is what we call WORKAHOLIC.”
But these days I have to work almost 9 to 9, and that is 100% cluttering my brain. Work stuff is cluttering my mind so much, I keep realizing that my mind was drifting to work without me even noticing.
It’s quite interesting to acknowledge that brain also can be cluttered. Just like physical clutter, it makes a mess and blocks important things to actually come out to surface. You know from the bottom of your HEART what you really want. But human brain is very interesting. Even though you know it from heart, brain keep making distraction to focusing on what’s important. We cannot blame brain on this. It’s really our fault that we give only the source of what you don’t want (i.e WORK), so automatically mind flows to think more about it.
I know it from the heart that 9-9 rat race is not the life I want to live. But when I actually live that life, your brain keeps thinking about work even after 9pm and you just cannot stop. It’s really quite sad, and I am living proof.
How can we improve this situation?
Here are few things I will try with the aim of decluttering your brain.
Just cannot dedicate 12 hours of your day to work. 7 hours per day, until I reach F.I. If less working hour is possible, even better.
Removing physical declutter will definitely help sorting out mental clutter. I realized, when I’m in minimalistic, clean environment I get
stressed less and have clear mind
3. Travel more
I realized, whenever I’m by the beach sipping pina colada while holding books, I get refreshed perspective of life. I always get reminded
of how small the things are that I get stressed over. Absolutely no reason to live a life like hell in office. But when I’ve not been on the
trips like this for a while, My brain just gets used to just thinking about bull shits happening in office, and make them seems bigger than
what they actually are.
Need to build a portfolio where money brings in more money, money working for me. Then, I no longer have to work anymore, no crazy
company politic decluttering my head
2. More time with Family
Ever since I got married, weirdly I love my hubby more and more. Maybe I am really marriage material hahaha Jokes aside, whenever
I spend time with my hubby, or my family, my heart is warmed up and I don’t think about unneccessary things in my life. Ultimate goal
is to live a full life with all my beloved family members
I will start with short term goals, and slowly work on long term goals as well. I will share the process! Hope one day, not too far from now, I live the life I want to live.
